OH MY GOD is a future forecasting show that takes academic predictions of the future of religion and manifests them into an imaginative world of future worship. The show focuses on the role of religious buildings, ceremonial fashion and prayer products. Every work in this show is based on skilled hand illustration and printing, and involves fashion, film, photography, screen prints, 3D printing, and a guidebook explaining the context and details of future Christians in Korea.
OH MY GOD 2100년, 새롭게 통일 된 ‘네오조선’ 의 크리스찬의 미래를 구상한 새로운 전시이다 체계적인 리서치를 바탕으로 한 작가의 독특한 상상력, 그리고 흥미로운 성경구절의 인용을 통해 알렉스와 이승연 작가는 2100년 기도가 필요한 사람들, 혹은 예배를 드릴때 사용할 수 있는 매우 흥미롭고 독특한 아트 오브젝을 선보인다
본 전시 작품의 대부분은 작가만의 섬세한 핸드페인팅을 바탕으로 한 아트 오브젝이며, 미래형 크리스찬 의상오브젝 패션과 가이드북, 조각오브제, 미래의 예배 형식을 가시» 한 퍼포먼’스 영상, 그 외 다양한 설치작으로 선보이고 있다
The Church of Chonsa is an expression of the extreme individualistic culture of the future, alongside religious and cultural fusion. Each of the members of this church has their own set of rules and moralities based on their individual experiences. This is why their costumes look like cocoons, within which they pray alone and protect their individual identity from institution and outside contamination. Their praying ritual, which involves capturing water from a mountain stream and drinking it from a special miniature steeple in isolation, is a process which implies the meaning of the church. Their existence is largely a reaction against the corruption of Protestant churches in Korea which have been plagued by fake Messiahs; and the denomination is influenced by European religion, which is largely Islamic by the year 2100 AD.
그 중 첫 번째 스토리 주제는 ‘천사의 교회’. 이는 융합된 종교를 상징하며 지극히 개인주의적 성향을 지닌다. 모두가 같은 교리를 따르고 믿어야 하는 종교가 아닌, 개인주의가 만연하는 사회 º”에º 한 개인이 스스로 자신에게 맞는 교리를 골라 믿고 의지하는 교회이며, 작품으로 표현되는 의상 또한 마치 누에처럼 홀로 들어가º 기도하는 모습으로 그 의미를 상징적으로 은유한다. 혹은 작가가 실제로 산에º 홀로 기도하고 오브제 조각으로 형상으로 된 십자가 조각 에 성수를 담아 마시는 퍼포먼스를 통해 작품의 내재된 의미를 직설적으로 표현하기도 한다
